It just isn’t Christmas until you hear us sing! We are delighted to welcome you back to Christmas at the Courthouse with the Valley Chamber Chorale during this, our 50th anniversary season.
During this holiday season we are reminded of and acknowledge the many traditions and celebrations that friends and family hold dear. This year’s “Christmas at the Courthouse” features the variety and breadth of holiday music for which the VCC is known. From beloved melodies and seasonal tunes to new carols or traditional carols with a new twist, there is something for everyone to enjoy and discover.

Our “classic” concert features one of Antonio Vivaldi’s best-known compositions, the Gloria, and Hildigunnur Rúnarsdóttir’s Mass of Guðbrandur, for 4 voices, chorus & orchestra. The contrast of the two works unites the past with the present, the familiar with the new. The wonderfully sunny nature of the Gloria, with its distinctive melodies and rhythms, is characteristic of all Vivaldi’s music and will complement Rúnarsdóttir’s Mass which is said to be “lyrical without being overly bound up by major-minor tonality and at times transparent and fragile, at others, powerful and strong.”
Whether you seek solace in music or simply crave a new artistic experience, this concert is your chance to be moved by the connection of the past and present as expressed in these two compositions.

Celebrating the past and looking ahead to the future can be a joyful experience. It allows us to reflect on our achievements and milestones while also embracing the possibilities that lie ahead. For 50 years the VCC has sought to convey emotion and connect with others through music in a way that words often cannot. The VCC will present favorite music from the past and present as we “Break Forth Into Singing” to express gratitude for the past and excitement for what the future will bring.
